Sixteen-year-old Courtney didn’t want to be at the apologetics conference. She had been struggling with her faith ever since her father—once a pastor—walked away from their family and the ministry.
Doubt took root, and nothing her mother did seemed to reach her. Desperate, her mom bought a box of Christian books, hoping they would rekindle Courtney’s faith. But then, she sensed God saying, Send them back. Trust Me.
It was a painful act of obedience, but then she heard about this apologetics conference. Convincing Courtney to attend wasn’t easy, but she reluctantly joined when she found out her friends were going.
At the Josh McDowell Ministry table, Courtney and a group of teens lit up with excitement over a stack of books tackling the most challenging faith questions—the very questions she was wrestling with! She and her friends entered to win the book giveaway, even joked about having “joint custody” of the books, eager to read them.
Then, something incredible happened: Courtney won the book giveaway! She ran back to the table, beaming. “I won! I never win anything!” Clutching the stack of books, she declared that she couldn’t wait to read them and share them with her friends.
Tears streamed down her mother’s face as she whispered, I am so grateful. God is at work in my daughter’s heart.
