{"id":53296,"date":"2020-04-06T06:04:56","date_gmt":"2020-04-06T11:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites-stage.josh.org\/main\/?p=53296"},"modified":"2025-08-06T12:48:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T17:48:15","slug":"why-god-create-humanity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites-stage.josh.org\/main\/why-god-create-humanity\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Did God Create Humanity?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\"><\/div><h2><strong>God knew that not all of humanity would accept Him, so why did He create us?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When God created humanity, He considered it &#8220;very good&#8221; (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/genesis\/1-31.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Genesis 1:31<\/a><\/strong>). God&#8217;s assessment can be difficult to understand, considering what people have done <em>against God<\/em> from the start. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You and I, as objects of His love, have been created to worship and enjoy God, who is worthy of all praise. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though God desires that <em>every person<\/em> <em>would be saved<\/em>, as it says in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bibleref.com\/1-Timothy\/2\/1-Timothy-2-4.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Timothy 2:4<\/a><\/strong>, He leaves the choice to us. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So why did God create us, knowing that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/josh.org\/why-believe-in-god\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">many would reject Him<\/a><\/strong>?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Salvation for humanity\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-53442 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sites-stage.josh.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/607\/2020\/04\/If-God-is-all-knowing-why-did-He-create-people-knowing-we-would-betray-Him-scaled-e1586053760139.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"645\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites-stage.josh.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/607\/2020\/04\/If-God-is-all-knowing-why-did-He-create-people-knowing-we-would-betray-Him-scaled-e1586053760139.jpg 1040w, https:\/\/sites-stage.josh.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/607\/2020\/04\/If-God-is-all-knowing-why-did-He-create-people-knowing-we-would-betray-Him-scaled-e1586053760139.jpg?resize=300,200 300w, https:\/\/sites-stage.josh.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/607\/2020\/04\/If-God-is-all-knowing-why-did-He-create-people-knowing-we-would-betray-Him-scaled-e1586053760139.jpg?resize=768,512 768w, https:\/\/sites-stage.josh.org\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/607\/2020\/04\/If-God-is-all-knowing-why-did-He-create-people-knowing-we-would-betray-Him-scaled-e1586053760139.jpg?resize=1024,683 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 645px) 100vw, 645px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>The Right Question?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reason God made us has less to do with his foreknowledge of our individual response, and more to do with His nature and <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/josh.org\/god-create-humans\/\">His ultimate end to receive glory<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Allow me to explain. <\/span>From cover to cover, the Bible is <em>about God.\u00a0<\/em>Specifically, Scripture tells the story of God being glorified.<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the primary ways that God is glorified is through His gift of salvation to humanity (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ephesians+1%3A4-6&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ephesians 1:4-6, 12<\/a><\/strong>). But we must recognize that salvation is just one side of the coin. Salvation is always delivery <em>from\u00a0<\/em>something. This &#8220;something&#8221; is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/josh.org\/god-love-us-so-does-sin-matter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">judgment<\/a><\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So for salvation to work, there must be a fork in the road: one path leading to salvation &#8212; and the other to judgment. Both options must be real, if God is to be glorified through our salvation (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/commentaries\/romans\/9-22.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Romans 9:22-23<\/a><\/strong>).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Humanity Given Free Will<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is where our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/josh.org\/what-keeps-you-from-loving-god\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">free will comes in<\/a><\/strong>. God gifted all of humanity with free will, so that <em>every person<\/em> could personally choose his or her salvation &#8212; or judgment. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God knew that many would reject Him, certainly. But God also knew that many would cherish Him as their friend and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/josh.org\/why-need-jesus-as-savior\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Savior<\/a><\/strong>. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our free will also makes it possible for us to gift God with glorify as we worship. If we had no free will, our worship would be forced. It wouldn&#8217;t be genuine.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God receives the maximum glory for creating a world in which <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/josh.org\/resurrection-crucifixion-details\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">He became our salvation<\/a><\/strong> <em>from<\/em> judgment.
